Seven tiers from professional soccer down to grassroots. Every player enters at the bottom the goal is to identify talent and move it up. The higher the tier, the more competitive, selective, and development-focused the environment.

Illinois High School Association. Many STL metro players compete on the Illinois side (East St. Louis, Belleville, O'Fallon). Strong programs in Class 3A and 2A. Boys and girls in fall. Metro-East is fertile ground for STL-area scouts.

Girls Pathway Differences
Girls HS soccer is played in spring (MSHSAA). ECNL is the dominant elite girls platform. NWSL is the top pro league. College is still essential NWSL does not hold a traditional draft in the same way. Top STL clubs for girls: Lou Fusz ECNL, FC St. Louis ECNL, Cor Jesu HS.
